we need to get jazz and funk back to nightclubs by 2020. We also need to redefine jazz as a "dancefloor genre" rather than a smooth genre that isn't pumping for the dancefloor.

However, I think they're both fine as it is
There are many different types of jazz and funk, some smooth, others...funky
Any genre with a rhythm can be a "dancefloor genre"
I may have a clue to what you're talking about however, if you mean fusing jazz and funk with dance
